ACT Policing said "On 6 June 2020 at 9.40pm a man was approached by the alleged offender who demanded a phone be handed over. The alleged offender lunged at the man with a knife and the man suffered a small wound to his hand. The alleged offender ran off after the incident."

The alleged offender was described as being approximately 25-30-years old, about 170cm (5’7”) tall, thin build, wearing a dark jacket, dark pants and a pink beanie.

Police believe the same man is linked to three further incidents in Calwell on 9 June involving a man approaching someone walking alone in the evening.

ACT Policing said "About 5.00pm a man was asked a question by the alleged offender who then lunged at the man with a knife. The man received minor injuries to his hand and neck and the alleged offender fled the scene.

At 5.30pm a woman was walking near an underpass beneath Johnson Drive when the alleged offender carrying a knife approached her. The woman ran in the opposite direction and no injuries occurred.

About 7.30pm a man was approached by the alleged offender carrying a knife near Beazley Crescent, Calwell. The alleged offender lunged at the man and he received a stab wound to the back. He was transported to the Canberra Hospital."

Residents in the Calwell area are urged to be aware of their surroundings and report any suspicious activity to police.  Police believe these incidents are all linked and likely to have been the result of actions by one person.

Anyone with information about these incidents (including CCTV that captures the man) should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via Crime Stoppers ACT website quoting reference number 6548759. Information can be provided anonymously.

ACT Policing face-fit is a graphical representation of a face, constructed by an artist working with a witness. A mixture of technology and artistry creates the image, usually from individual facial features which are then put together to come up with a final composite image.
