Two men have died following a light plane crash North of Canberrra

An 18-year-old man and a 30-year-old man have died following a light plane crash north of the ACT Border. 

About 4.30pm today (Tuesday 13 April 2021), emergency services were called to a property on Tallagandra Lane, Sutton, after reports a light plane had crashed into a paddock.

The pilot a 30-year-old man and passenger an 18-year-old man died at the scene.

It's belived the Cessna 172 left Canberra Airport about 1.30pm and was due to arrive back before dark.

Officers from The Hume Police District established a crime scene and have commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) is currently on scene determining the cause of the crash.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
