Working smoke alarm alerts neighbours to fire in Narrabundah home

A magnifying glass is believed to have started a fire in a Narrabundah home this afternoon.

At about 1pm, ACT Fire and Rescue responded to reports of an active smoke alarm coming from a home on Anembo Street.

Firefighters arrived at the scene and forced entry to the home to find a small fire in one of the rooms.

The fire was quickly contained and the burnt items were removed and examined.

No one was home at the time of the fire.

An ACT Emergency Services agency spokesperson said that the fire is believed to have started when sunlight hit a magnifying glass inside the home.

The home was ventilated and the occupants were allowed to return.

There were no reports of injuries.
