Residents fed-up with multiple serious crashes on Braddon Street

A man has been transported to hospital following another serious crash on Limestone Avenue overnight.

At about 9.30pm ACT Emergency Services responded to a two-vehicle crash on Limestone Avenue near the intersection of Wakefield Avenue in Braddon.

The blue sedan had allegedly hit a parked vehicle at speed, the force of the impact causing the parked vehicle to be wrapped around a tree.

The driver was able to free himself from his vehicle which had a child seat in the rear. He was treated on scene by ACT Ambulance Service Paramedics and transported to hospital in a stable condition.

Firefighters spent more than an hour attempting to access the battery on the severely damaged Volvo in an attempt to make the area safe.

A nearby resident has told OnScene ACT that she is "fed up with the constant high-speed crashes on that section of road", she also went on to say that she has had vehicles in her front yard narrowly missing her daughter’s bedroom, with bricks from her fence thrown into her windows and even over the roof of the family home.

"Something needs to be done to slow down traffic on that bend, some signage to warn drivers of the bend before someone gets killed" she said.

Over the years she estimates she has lost more than $50,000 due to damages around the home, vehicles and lost work.

ACT Policing are investigating the cause of the crash.

Any witnesses to the collision who have not already spoken to police are asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via www.crimestoppers.com.au referencing 7296403.
