Two people have been seriously injured following a serious crash in Belconnen overnight.

Just before 10pm ACT Emergency Services responded to reports of a motor vehicle crash on William Hovell Drive about 500m south of the Drake Brockman Drive roundabout.

Firefighters used hydraulic tools to free one of the occupants from a vehicle, both persons were assessed on scene by ACT Ambulance Service paramedics and transported to hospital with serious injuries.

ACT Policing's Major Crash Investigation team attended the crash and are investigating.

Fire crews remained on the scene for more than 2 hours ensuring the EV did not catch fire.

William Hovell Drive was closed for several hours until the scene was cleared.
