A man has escaped serious injury after he became trapped under a bus at residential property in Melba this afternoon.

Just after 6pm, ACT Emergency Services responded to reports of a man trapped under a bus on Grainger Circuit.

Firefighters used an airbag to lift the bus off the man before he could be freed.

ACT Ambulance Service paramedics assessed the man at the scene but he did not require transport to hospital.

Grainger Circuit was closed for about an hour while emergency services were in attendance.

ACT Policing were also in attendance managing traffic.
