A light rail vehicle has come off its rails following a collision with a car in Lyneham last night.

At about 5.30pm, ACT Emergency services responded to reports of a two vehicle collision on Flemington Rd.

ACT Ambulance attended the scene and assessed several persons but they did not require transport to hospital.

The light rail vehicle sustained significant damage and was derailed causing all services to be suspended between Nullabor Ave and Dickson Interchange.

The light rail vehicle was eventually recovered several hours later and taken back to the maintenance yard.

All Light Rail operations have since returned to normal.

ACT Policing were also in attendance and are investigating.
