Two people have been transported to hospital following a crash in Ngunnawal this afternoon.

At about 5.30pm, ACT Emergency Services responded to reports of a two car crash on Mirrabei Drive.

Upon arrival emergency services located a head-on collision with at least one person trapped inside one of the vehicles.

Firefighters used rescue tools to remove the doors of the red SUV to assist two persons from the vehicle.

They were treated on scene by ACT Ambulance Service paramedics and transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

An ACT Policing spokesperson has said the driver of one of the vehicles fled the scene prior to police arrival.

Mirrabei drive was closed between Shoalhaven Avenue and Wanganeen Avenue for several hours until the scene was cleared.

ACT Policing were also in attendance investigations into the collision are ongoing.
