Cyclist seriously injured following alleged drink driver crash in Weston

A cyclist has been seriously injured following a crash involving an alleged drink driver in Weston this morning.

At about 8am, ACT Emergency Services responded to reports that a cyclist had been hit by a car on the Cotter Road between Kirkpatrick Street and the Tuggeranong Parkway.

The cyclist was assessed on scene by ACT Ambulance Service paramedics and transported to hospital with serious injuries.

An ACT Policing spokesperson said the driver of the Commodore was taken into custody and he subsequently recorded a breath alcohol reading of .142.

He has been charged with drink driving and investigations into the incident are continuing.

Cotter Road was closed eastbound for several hours while investigations were carried out, the road has since reopened.
