Man dies following crash on the Barton Highway

A man has died following a crash in the State’s south today.
About 1:40pm today (Tuesday 12 August 2025) emergency services were called to the Barton Highway, Jeir (approximately 30km south of Yass), and found a truck and car had collided.
NSW Ambulance paramedics attended the scene and treated the 78-year-old driver of the car, a man, however, he died at the scene.
The driver of the truck, a man believed to be aged in his 40’s was also treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to Yass Hospital for mandatory testing.
Officers from The Hume Police District have established a crime scene.
The Barton Highway is currently closed in both directions between Nanima Road and Murrumbateman Road.
