A 40 year-old man has died after his car struck a tree in Stromlo this morning.

At approximately 7.40am ACT Emergency Services responded to reports of a motor vehicle accident on Uriarra Road.

Despite the best efforts of emergency services the man died at the scene.

The road was closed for a number of hours while police emergency services were in attendance, the road has since reopened.

ACT Policing’s Major Collision Team is investigating the circumstances of the incident and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Sadly this is the fifth road fatality for the ACT in 2020.
