Six people arrested following protest activity on the Commonwealth Avenue Bridge.

Six people have been arrested following protest activity on the Commonwealth Avenue Bridge yesterday evening.

Just after 5pm two small trucks were parked on the bridge and subsequently blocked traffic in the Northbound direction.

Police immediately responded to the area and started to negotiate with the protesters.

Extensive traffic delays occurred in the area with a large number of police resources being deployed to assist in moving backed up traffic.

Specialist police were brought in as several Protesters had glued themselves to the road and to each other.

The situation was resolved, and the road was reopened just before 9pm.

An ACT Policing spokesperson said ACT Policing arrested six people yesterday after protest activity blocked the northbound lanes of Commonwealth Avenue Bridge.

All six are listed to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court today.
