Firefighters have extinguished a fire at Griffith this morning.

At about 10.50am ACT Fire and Rescue responded to reports of a fire inside a classroom of St Clare's College on McMillan Crescent.

Firefighters arrived to find fire inside a science lab at the college with a significant amount of smoke throughout the building.

The fire was quickly contained to the room of origin.

Students and school staff had safely evacuated from the buildings and there were no reports of injuries.

Firefighters remained on the scene for several hours ventilating and ensuring the area was safe.

ACT Policing and ACT Ambulance Service were also in attendance.
