Firefighters have extinguished a house fire in Narrabundah this morning.

Just before 10am, ACT Fire and Rescue responded to reports of a house fire on McKinley Place.

Upon arrival they found a house alight with significant amounts of black smoke coming from the premises.

Firefighters were able to quickly contain the fire to the room of origin with some fire extension into the roof space, they remained on the scene for several hours checking the roof for further fire and extinguishing it.

ACT Policing and ACT Ambulance Service were also in attendance.

There were no reports of injury.
