A dry cleaning store has been destroyed a and several other shops damaged following fire in Kingston overnight.

At about 10.15pm, ACT Fire and Rescue responded to reports of a structure fire on Giles Street. 

Firefighters arrived to find a shopfront well alight with fire spreading to other tenancies.

Firefighters were supported with two aerial appliances and brought the fire under control several hours later.

The shopfront where the fire started was completely destroyed and neighbouring shops damaged by heat and water.

The cause of the fire is not yet known and is under investigation. 

There were no reports of serious injury.
