Incorrect disposal of hot coals leads to garage fire in Isabella Plains

The incorrect disposal of hot coals has lead to a garage fire in Isabella Plains this afternoon.

Just before 3pm, ACT Fire and Rescue responded to reports of a house fire on Werriwa Crescent.

Upon arrival they located a garage partially alight with a gas bottle venting fuelling the fire.

Firefighters quickly contained the fire and prevented its spread into the home nearby.

An ACT Emergency Services Agency spokesperson said, the cause of the fire was hot coals removed the night before.

There were no reports of serious injury.
