Police respond to reports of suspicious package in Canberra’s CBD

Several streets in the city were locked down this afternoon as police responded to reports of a susuipicious item.

At about 2:10pm, police received reports of a suspicious package near the corner of London Circuit and Constitution Avenue.

An exclusion zone was setup with workers asked to stay inside their buildings for a short period of time.

The AFP Bomb Response Team attended and just under 2 hours later the item was deemed safe.

The roads and buildings have now been reopened in the area and there were no reports of injury.
